Privacy Policy

01The short version

clicktest.world is a set of browser based speed tests. We do not ask you to create an account and we do not ask for your name or email to take a test. Your personal history — every run, personal best and chart — stays in your own browser. If you choose to submit a score to a public leaderboard, that single score is stored on our servers under a random device identifier with no name, email or account attached. The only third parties that collect data on this site are Google, through the advertising and traffic measurement services described below, and our database host.

02Data that never leaves your browser

Your run history, personal bests and local daily board are written to your own browser using localStorage. They stay on the device you used, we cannot read them, restore them, or connect them to you, and clearing your browser data or pressing the reset control on a test removes them permanently.

If you share a challenge link, the only thing that travels is the single score encoded in the link URL, because you chose to share it.

03Data you choose to send us: leaderboard submissions

After a run you can submit the result to a public leaderboard. When you do, we store: the score, the test and duration, the timestamp, a random device identifier generated in your browser, the nickname you type (or "Anonymous" if you leave it), and the country approximated from your IP address by our hosting provider. The IP address itself is not stored.

This data is used only to operate the leaderboards, rank your score and show aggregated score distributions and per-country averages. It is public in the sense that anyone visiting the same leaderboard sees the nickname and score; the device identifier stays hidden.

You can avoid leaderboard storage entirely by not submitting a score — the test, your rank estimate and your local history all work without submitting. If you have already submitted and want an entry removed, email us with the test, duration, approximate time and the score, or simply delete the ctw:device_id value in your browser localStorage and contact us.

04Advertising: Google AdSense and cookies

clicktest.world is free to use and is funded by advertising. We use Google AdSense to serve the ads you see on this site. Google is an independent advertising provider, and its use of data is governed by its own policies rather than ours.

Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

• Google may set cookies in your browser to measure ad performance, limit how often you see the same ad, and detect invalid traffic.
• Google may use a device identifier, approximate location derived from your IP address, and general browsing signals to select which ads to show.
• Some ads may be personalised (chosen using your prior browsing activity) and some may be non-personalised (chosen using only context such as the page content and coarse location).
• We do not receive, store, or have access to the personal data Google collects through these ad units, and we do not sell any data ourselves.

05How to opt out of personalised advertising

You are in control of personalised ads and you do not need to leave this site broken to switch them off. Any of the following options work independently of us:

• Turn off ad personalisation for your Google account or browser at google.com/settings/ads — ads will still appear, but they will be non-personalised.
• Opt out of third party vendor cookies for many advertising networks at once through aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.eu.
• Block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or use a private/incognito window so cookies are discarded when you close it.
• If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, a consent banner asks for your choice before personalised ads are served, and you can change that choice later from the same banner control.

06Traffic measurement: Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-W3125SEF1X) to understand how the site is used in aggregate — which tests are popular, which pages people land on, and which devices they use — so we know what to build next. Google Analytics sets its own cookies and identifiers in your browser for this purpose.

These reports are aggregated and are not combined with the individual scores you submit to leaderboards. Google Analytics data is processed by Google as described in its privacy policy.

• Typical data points: page URL and referrer, approximate location at city or country level derived from your IP address, device and browser type, and how long you spent on a page.
• IP addresses are anonymised by Google before being stored for Analytics, and Google Signals advertising features are not enabled.
• You can block Google Analytics entirely with the official browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, or by blocking cookies and scripts in your browser or an extension.
• Standard server logs may also briefly record your IP address and user agent as part of delivering the page and protecting against abuse. They are not used to build a profile of you.

07Where our data comes from

The rank thresholds shown after each test (for example "average", "pro", "insane") are descriptive bands based on widely used community conventions for clicking, typing and reaction time — roughly 5 to 7 CPS for a good clicker, about 40 words per minute for an average typist and about 250 to 300 milliseconds for average visual reaction time. They are published references for self-comparison, not a medical or clinical assessment.

The live score distributions and country boards, by contrast, are calculated from the scores players have voluntarily submitted to the leaderboards, as described above. Our full measurement method is documented on the About page.

08Children

These tests are simple games and are suitable for general audiences, but the site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us through an email, contact us and we will delete it.

09Your rights and changes to this policy

Most of your data is already in your hands: your run history lives in your browser and you can wipe it at any time. The only records we hold are anonymous leaderboard entries and anything you sent us by email. To export or erase a leaderboard entry, or raise any other concern, contact service@clicktest.world and we will action it.

If this policy changes in a way that affects how data is handled, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
